Winter programme for 2024/25
We shall be moving to winter play from Saturday 5th October. Half lawns only (at all times) will then be in operation if playable. If wet, please remember the “squelch test”, which is:
If the lawns are wet and soft after heavy rain check before playing. Try the ‘squelch test’ ─ don’t play if water appears when a foot is pressed into the lawns !
If there is water in the hoop holes then please do not play.
If there are any puddles on the car park then the lawns will not be fit to play.
Finally – if there has been a FROST – do NOT play – walking on frosted OR de-frosting lawns causes SEVERE LONG TERM DAMAGE to the grass.
IF fit to play please remember to SWISH away any dew from the surface (often found in shaded areas) using the extendable rods in the hoops store.
Winter programme is planned for Members only – Every Tuesday and Saturday from 11am (meet 10.45) as Club Days. IF the weather is bad and/or the lawns unplayable then Thursdays and Sundays will be used as alternate options (back up).
We aim to devise some competitive “ladder” play for members over winter – details to go onto the notice board when finalised.
Your committee wants members to enjoy the lawns whenever possible BUT we ALL have a duty to protect them when facing the challenging North West weather conditions over winter.
